The moment is finally here. We can send Mateusz Franczak’s new album, Night-night, out into the world. And my goodness, we’re proud. The album has been some time in the making and it is truly a beautiful collection of songs.
The album contains both instrumental and vocal tracks, the latter featuring minimalist arrangements and starkly personal lyrics.. It was recorded at the Syrena Theatre in Warsaw. The venue had a huge impact on the whole creative process. The atmosphere of the theatre inspired numerous experiments at the performance level, and a performative approach to voice recording, hence Mateusz plays a different character in each piece.
Guest starring on the album are Adam Podniesiński (electronics), Paweł Szamburski (clarinet), Patryk Zakrocki (viola, mbira), and Hubert Zemler (drums).
The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Marcin Bociński, known for his collaboration with such artists as Wacław Zimpel, Kuba Ziołek, Jacaszek and Mikołaj Trzaska.
Currently, we have experienced issues with the vinyl pressing so to make sure we get it right, the vinyl release has been delayed for a couple of weeks but you can still get the digital download, or the CD from the release page, here.
Last night, Mateusz performed a beautiful show at Pogłos in Warsaw and was joined on stage for much of the set by the aforementioned Adam and Hubert. It was certainly a celebration of the release and we hope you enjoy these songs as much as the audience did last night.
