Both the titular Milton and Jones are members of an as-yet untitled power-pop band in their adoptive home city of Warsaw, however, Neil and Jules began to write music together before the band coalesced, and consciously decided to have extra-curricular activities under their own names.
After leaving Warsaw post-rock band The Frozen North in 2016, Neil Milton spent time on Polish radio, promoting popular Warsaw film-music night Scores, and remixing artists from Warsaw’s Giorgio Fazer to London’s VLMV. In May he released his debut solo single, ‘You Are the Summer’ and a follow-up EP in September, ‘Singing as You Leave’.
In 2017, Jules Jones and her partner Sam Akina left Seattle and her beloved dreampop band Ephrata, and relocated to Warsaw to write two sequels to their hit film ‘Planeta Singli.’ Jules: “Leaving behind my friends, family, and roller derby – that wasn’t easy. But what really broke my heart was losing my band. I prayed I would find someone in Warsaw I could connect and collaborate with, then did.”
Speaking about their collaboration, Neil said: “I had been struggling for a while to find the perfect musical partner that would share in the ideas that I had, and then Jules appeared. When we started to write together, we had so much fun that I feel it comes across in the songs.”
The duo’s paths crossed online, and a shared love of Warsaw, guitars, harmony, and a mutual, endearing creative modesty drew them together. In 2018, they released their debut single, a Christmas song, ‘This Life (This Christmas)’ which was described as “Polish indiepop perfection“, by popular Christmas music website, Christmasunderground.com.
